Visma Connect Participates in European CyberSecurity Month
The European Cybersecurity Month (ECSM) is the European Union’s annual campaign dedicated to promoting cybersecurity among EU citizens and organisations.
Each year, for the entire month of October, hundreds of activities take place across Europe, including conferences, workshops, trainings, webinars, presentations and more, to promote digital security and cyber hygiene. Visma Connect will take part in this important campaign, along with our sister companies in the Visma Group. Throughout the month, we will launch numerous internal and external cybersecurity initiatives. This is Visma’s third year participating in the event.
For Visma, participating in European CyberSecurity Month is a matter of social responsibility. We believe it’s valuable for the whole world and very important to establish a strong security culture. This focus on cybersecurity should increase today, as countries battle the global pandemic.
A Shared Responsibility
Since the first event in 2012, ECSM has been reaching its key priorities by bringing together parties from across Europe under the slogan “Cybersecurity is a Shared Responsibility.” We couldn’t agree more with this statement and, as a company, we can say it translates into lived experience. At Visma Connect, we have organised an internal cybersecurity awareness month for the past six years. We’re happy to share our knowledge externally now as well. “The cybersecurity awareness of our employees is very high,” says Cindy Wubben, Manager Security & Compliance at Visma Connect. “A recent audit for our Data Pro Code certification showed that privacy and, by extension, security are in our DNA.”
The Data Pro Code is an approved code of conduct designed according to article 40 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in The Netherlands. Its goal is to ensure GDPR-compliance among IT organizations, particularly those that process personal data. Besides this certification, we are certified in ISO 27001, the international standard for Information Security. These certifications help us stay vigilant and abide by procedures, but we also recognise that cybersecurity is always evolving. That’s why we hold regular training sessions for employees. We even have an awareness portal where we publish hacker challenges, so our technical teams can develop an understanding of hackers’ mindset and learn to prevent and identify attacks.
Resources to increase your own security awareness
To help you increase your own awareness of these topics, we will organise several presentations and an online conference for customers. We will also publish a number of articles on our website.
